Khoukhi, who is currently on loan from Al Ain FC, scored his 14th goal of the season on Sunday, becoming the first player in Qatar’s history to score 14 goals in a single season. The milestone comes after he already recorded three goals during the previous campaign.
"I'm very happy with this achievement," said Khoukhi, who praised his team-mates for their support throughout the game. "It's been a tough season, but we've come together as a group and worked hard to get this result."
The 25-year-old was instrumental in guiding Al Sadd to a stunning win against Al Ahly in the opening match of the Qatar Super Cup. He had a crucial role in setting up the winning goal,Serie A Stadium which came after a long period of pressure from the opposition.
"It was a big moment for us," added coach Mohamed Al-Sulaimani. "We needed to find a way to get through to the final ball and that's what Boualem did. We didn't have much time and it was important for him to make sure we got the winner."
Despite his impressive performance, however, Khoukhi admitted that he still has a lot to learn from the experience. "I've learned a lot from this season and I want to continue improving," he said.
