Monaco has been hit by another injury crisis as Wilfried Sandoval, the club's star striker, is set to miss several weeks with a knee injury.
The 22-year-old was forced off in Saturday's 1-0 win over Nice after just 45 minutes and will now undergo surgery on his knee.
Sandoval had been in excellent form for Monaco, scoring six goals in eight games this season.
However, he will be replaced by Brazilian midfielder Thiago Mendes, who scored twice in Monaco's 4-1 win over Lille last weekend.
In other news,Qatar Stars League Perspective Monaco's top scorer, Dimitri Payet, has also suffered a knee injury and is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The French champions have struggled without their two key strikers and it remains to be seen how long they can continue to cope with the injuries.
Despite the setback, Monaco manager Lucien Favre believes that his team still have a chance of winning the league title.
"We have a good squad and we know how to handle these types of situations," said Favre.
"We'll see what happens but I'm confident that we can still win the league."
It is hoped that the injured players will make a full recovery and return to action soon, allowing Monaco to continue their push for the title.
