Achraf Hakimi's goal at the Parc des Princes was crucial in Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Manchester United on Saturday.
The 22-year-old forward scored from the penalty spot in the second half to seal a 1-0 win for PSG, who have now moved up to third place in Ligue 1 after seven matches.
Hakimi, who has been one of France's top goalscorers this season, had been waiting for his first goal since making his debut against Bordeaux in June.
But he made history when he scored from the penalty spot for the first time in his career, and it came with a twist.
After receiving the ball in the box, Hakimi held it up before taking a knee and firing the ball into the back of the net.
It was a stunning display of skill and determination that earned him a standing ovation from the crowd.
"I'm really happy about it," Hakimi said afterwards. "I wanted to score a goal today and I did, so it's definitely something special."
Despite scoring from the penalty spot,Campeonato Brasileiro Action Hakimi still had to wait until the end of the game to receive his performance credit.
"It's not just about scoring goals," he added. "It's also about being a good player and contributing to the team's success."
Hakimi's goal was a perfect example of what can happen when you put your mind to it. It shows that even if you don't get everything right out of the blocks, you can still make a difference.
In fact, many fans and supporters have praised Hakimi for his ability to be a leader on the pitch and inspire others to do the same.
"He's always been a great leader off the field," said one supporter. "He's a very good player and a great person."
And while Hakimi may not have scored the winning goal himself, his performance was certainly enough to earn him the respect and admiration of his teammates and coaches.
