Marquinhos has broken two goal records for São Paulo FC in his first season, becoming the club's all-time leading goalscorer and scoring the most goals in a single campaign.
The Brazilian forward, who signed from Paris Saint-Germain in January, is already well on his way to breaking the previous record for most goals in a single campaign, which was set by former player Gerson in 2015-16 with 27 goals.
He scored his 20th goal of the season in a 4-0 victory over Santos on Saturday,Serie A Stadium giving him 29 goals in all competitions this year, more than any other player in the league.
In addition to breaking the goal-scoring record, Marquinhos also broke the previous record for most goals in a single season for a club that had never won the Campeonato Paulista before he joined São Paulo in 2018.
His performances have been impressive so far this season, as he has helped the team to a strong start to the campaign and is expected to continue his excellent form throughout the remainder of the season. He will be hoping to add to his tally of goals as the season progresses and help lead São Paulo to further success.
